K-Decoded ("we," "us," "our") publishes articles about Korean beauty, travel, food, and language, and runs a community discussion feature. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit k-decoded.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you provide directly

  • Community sign-in: if you sign in to post or reply in the Community, we collect the email address you provide. We use it only to send you a secure, passwordless sign-in link — we never see or store a password.
  • Profile and posts: a display name you choose, plus any discussion topics, replies, tags, and optional images you post. These are visible to other visitors.
  • Content moderation reports: if you report a post, we collect the reason you provide so a moderator can review it.
  • Contact requests: if you email us directly (hello@k-decoded.com), we receive whatever you include in that message.
  • Learning-sheet early access: if you join the waitlist, we collect your email address to notify you about the Korean PDF learning-sheet launch and closely related updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, approximate location (city/country level), device and browser type, and referring site. This is aggregated and not tied to your name or email.
  • Advertising: we use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technology to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them (via Google Analytics and Google AdSense) to remember basic preferences, measure site usage, and support advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features like staying signed in to the Community may not.

How we use information

  • To operate the Community — authenticate you, display your posts, and enforce our Community Guidelines.
  • To respond to messages sent through the contact page.
  • To notify learning-sheet early-access subscribers about the launch and related updates.
  • To understand overall site traffic and improve content.
  • To display advertising that helps keep K-Decoded free to read.

Third-party services

We share limited data with the services that power the site:

  • Supabase hosts our community database, authentication, and any images you upload when posting.
  • Google Analytics processes anonymized usage data. You can opt out using Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Google AdSense serves ads on the site. You can review or opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or through aboutads.info.

We do not sell your personal information.

Some posts include affiliate links to products we've reviewed. If you make a purchase through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects how honestly we review a product.

Data retention

Community posts, replies, and profile information are kept while your account is active. Contact emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.

Your choices

  • Email us at hello@k-decoded.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your community account and posts.
  • Opt out of analytics or personalized ads using the links above.
  • Reading the site and browsing articles never requires an account — only posting in the Community does.

Children's privacy

K-Decoded is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
